Our Story…
Barley Tails is more than just a brand—it's a reflection of our lifelong love affair with dogs and the countryside. Growing up with our family dog, McCaw, a loyal and loving chocolate lab, we experienced firsthand the joy and companionship that dogs bring into our lives. Now, with Murph, our spirited English Springer Spaniel, by our side, our love for dogs has only deepened.
Our dogs have always been country dogs at heart, relishing trips down to the farm for a swim in the creek, a sniff around the fields, and a playful hunt. It was during these adventures that the name "Barley Tails" was born—inspired by the sight of our dogs returning from the farm with barley grass tangled in their tails and ears, a reminder of the simple joys of rural life.
Inspired by the unique rural country vibe of New Zealand, as well as the breathtaking countryside of Scotland, we wanted to bring this rustic charm to dog accessories. Our mission is to provide high-quality, stylish, and functional accessories that not only reflect the natural beauty of the countryside but also allow dogs to roam, explore, and play freely, wherever their adventures take them.
